The Gullane-The Blackwater Polkas

from Just Fiddlin' by Gordon McLeod

/

about

Three traditional Irish polkas form the Sliabh Luachra tradition. These tunes are taken from the playing of two great Sliabh Luachra masters, Matt Cranitch and Jackie Daly, both of whom I am luck to count among my good friends. Matt, was kind enough to record these along with me ( as well as the slides in track !). The Gullane refers to a townland in the Sliabh Luachra region and the Blackwater refers to the Blackwater river which flows through the southern edge of Sliabh Luachra.
